Edward German Music Festival

On April 23rd the nation celebrates all that is English.
It is St. George's Day. And the birthdays of the country's most famous dramatist, Shakespeare, and its most celebrated painter, JMW Turner. On this day Merrie England will be performed by local choirs and will set the scene of the Festival.

For a week surrounding April 23rd 2006 Whitchurch in Shropshire will be the focus for the Sir Edward German Music Festival.

This festival celebrates all that's best in English music.

The Hallé Orchestra, Julian Lloyd Webber, The Band of The Welsh Guards and Choros Amici will be joining local musicians, choristers and schools at the birthplace of a composer who ranks second only to Elgar in epitomising England in music.
