Helen
Withers - Soprano
Born in Wolverhampton,
Helen Withers studied on the undergraduate and opera courses at the Guildhall
School of Music and Drama with Johanna Peters and Rudolf Piernay. She has won
prizes including the Concordia Foundation of English Singers and Speakers, a Great
Elm award, and a Royal Overseas League award. She has also been a recipient of
Wingate and Countess of Munster scholarships. Before going on to sing in the Glyndebourne
Festival Opera chorus Helen performed the roles of Dorabella, Lucilla (Silken
Ladder), and Brigitte (Iolanta) for GSMD, and Xerxes for British Youth Opera.
She most recently covered the role of Idamante for Glyndebourne Touring Opera.
On the recital platform Helen has appeared at Three Choirs Festival, Purcell Room,
St. James's, Piccadilly, Barbican
Hall, and Ravinia Festival, Chicago. She continues to study with Rudolf Piernay
and is currently making the transition from mezzo to soprano.
